Handle the Holidays Mudra

It happens every year - Christmas decorations arrive in stores before I am ready. I am one of those very rare Christmas STARTS on Christmas and goes for 12 nights kinda folks, but these days, it seems like the holiday decor shows up in October, or September - and I know I will get a comment on this blog from someone saying they saw decor in their store in AUGUST! 🤣
As we ease into the holiday season this October, one piece of advice I relish from my Aquarian husband on how to deal with the holidays is to plan ahead and be prepared. (Aquarius which is traditionally ruled by Saturn is all about structures, plans, and boundaries.)
I have learned to be better at planning, but it is not really in my nature as an Aries. If you're like me, we can use this "Handle the Holidays Mudra" ​to help!
With both hands, touch the pad of your thumb (the "doer" Mars+Venus) and middle  (structures and boundaries Jupiter) fingers together creating a bit of a "beak." Keep all the other fingers pointing straight out and pressed together, as shown in the photo.
The way to use this (or any) Modern Mudra is with the breath and  with your intention. Choose a mantra for yourself, perhaps something like, "I move toward my dreams one step at a time." or "Just one next step is all I need to do now." or "My planning now is essential to bringing my vision to life." When you are feeling overwhelmed, or things are a bit out of hand, you can follow these steps:

Handle the Holidays Modern Mudra (gif)
  1. Breathe: Close your eyes or relax your gaze, and take a deep breath and clear your mind as best you can.
  2. Pose: Make and hold the hand position, continuing a calm breath.
  3. Speak: With your exhale, repeat your mantra softly. You will start to feel the energy rise throughout your body. When it peaks, you may softly stop, open your eyes, and return or normal awareness.
Now take action! Take a moment to write down your next micro-move, or a series of steps you need to take, or a goal and a checklist to achieve that goal. Whenever you feel yourself straying, you can repeat this Modern Mudra and your mantra, or one similar to it, and get back on track.
